EASTLEIGH RESIDENTS LEFT IN FEAR AFTER GANG CAUSE MAYHEM AROUND GRANTHAM GREEN
Police were called at around 4.45 on Tuesday 17th to reports of a masked gang carrying and threatening members of the general public with baseball bats and knives.
Police stated;
"Concerns raised by local residents following the incident at Grantham Green yesterday evening. I have been asked to have a look at what has happened and update you all on what we are doing. Sergeant Richard Knight and his Eastleigh Central Team are following up on the incident this morning following the incident at Grantham Green and so you may well notice an increase in our patrols today and the rest of this week.
Police were on scene within minutes of the first call yesterday, and a number of young people were stopped, spoken to and searched. There has been a great deal of speculation on social media about who was involved in this matter. Please bear in mind that the majority involved in this were under 18, and as such what we can and cannot update you on is extremely limited. As frustrating as it is naming people on facebook very rarely achieves anything - if they are involved it has the potential to harm our investigations, and if they are not involved it stokes tension in the community, Please think carefully about what you are trying to achieve.
Knife crime and youth on youth crime is extremely important to us. I have seen one comment from a member of the community highlighting the importance of calling us - if you have information or you are concerned then we need to know. If you are concerned then you can report anonymously - details in the attached picture or don’t forget about ‘crimestoppers’.
If you have any information that can assist, Contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or visit the webpage.
