The team from local company HELM, who are partnering with the Council in the New Year Boost programme, are keen to chat directly to anyone interested in joining their Weight Loss Programme.

Hamble anti-aircraft gun in temporary move
The Word War 2 anti-aircraft gun overlooking the beach at Hamble Point will be removed next month while the concrete emplacement that supports it is surveyed.
From Monday (1 February) part of the adjoining car park will be closed and fenced off to allow the work on a new plinth to take place.
Damage caused by years of buffeting by tides and wind, and undercutting by the sea, means the original gun emplacement structure has been breaking up. Read more
Green grants scheme extended
The national green homes grant scheme - which provides vouchers towards the cost of making energy efficiency improvements - has been extended to 31 March 2022.
Improvements could include insulating your home to reduce your energy use or installing low-carbon heating to lower the amount of carbon dioxide your home produces.
If you use a voucher for such work, it can be used to help cover the cost of any secondary measures, such as installing draft-proofing or double/
triple glazing. Find out more

New bin collection dates coming in March
New online bin calendars available from Wednesday
From 1 March, the regular bin days of most Eastleigh Borough residents
will be changing to allow for fortnightly glass and battery recycling
collections and more efficient
collection routes.
We’re writing to every household affected with their new collection dates. New calendars are available on our website from 3 February.

Lunch Club on Wheels back on the road
Eastleigh Youth & Community Trust, who manage The Blackbird Cafe, will continue its Lunch Club on Wheels service for elderly, disabled and self-isolating residents in the Borough during the current lockdown - thanks to support from a local law firm.
Normally reliant on income from services and projects, staff were able to re-launch the Lunch Club on Wheels project with the support of a donation from Dutton Gregory Solicitors. Read more

Almost £3 million for Borough businesses in latest COVID grants round
During the third national lockdown we have distributed almost £3 million in another round of vital funds to support local businesses.
A total of £2,846,906 has now been released to businesses across the Borough through a range of government schemes aimed to help companies impacted by the latest lockdown. Read more
Talk to us about reopening high streets safely
A new scheme has been launched to revive retail centres around Eastleigh Borough. It is appealing for businesses to get in touch as part of the effort to resume trading when the local economy emerges from the latest COVID restrictions.
The Council’s Reopening High Streets Safely (RHSS) team would like to hear from anyone who lives, shops, visits or works in a high street within the Borough as part of the new project.
COVID vaccination scam
The Council has been made aware of a COVID vaccination text and email scam.
Previous reports of a new scam, where a person receives a text saying they need to book a vaccination appointment, has now been updated to include emails as well.
The text or email scam takes people to a fake NHS form which then asks for their bank details to prove their identity.

Barnardo’s helpline
A COVID-19 helpline and webchat facility for Black, Asian and ethnic minority families has been set up by Barnardo’s.
It encourages children, young people and families from these communities who have been impacted by COVID-19 to speak about their worries and stresses.
It provides therapeutic support, as well as signposting to other organisations who can provide further help. Find out more
Vaccine roll-out, Hampshire
The NHS locally has developed a dedicated part of their website so you can find out more about the vaccination programme across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. It has information about vaccination sites and answers to some frequently asked questions too.
